Homework for the weekend (Feb. 26)

Students not finished their artwork were told to take it home to finish it for Monday. Grade 5 students have to complete their multiplication work from class today from their textbook (p. 59 #1,2,3,5,6,7). Grade 6 students should also practice multiplication of two-digit by two-digit numbers. Students will also have their spelling quiz and multiplication quiz on Monday.

Writing

We have been working on writing proper paragraphs including an introduction, information, and a conclusion. Students have been writing opinion paragraphs to help them state their opinion, give their reasons, and then restate their idea in a conclusion. This is our success criteria for opinion paragraphs:

Next we are moving into writing research reports. Students have chosen a topic and taken out a book from our school library for reference. We are looking at other research reports identifying the important parts.

Introduction

Welcome to the 5/6 Blog. The blog will be in place to keep students and their families up to date with what we do in our class. I will include pictures of activities we do in class, notes for things we have been learning about, learning goals and curriculum expectations we have been working on, and more. I hope this will allow families to feel more connected to what their children are learning at school. Please visit often as I will be updating this blog frequently.
